1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. an excellent continuation of the series By Patricia Walker The second book in the series continues the story of Rebecca, Naomi and their magical friends. We share Rebecca's lessons in how to be a mindful person and share the high's and lows of the more physical lessons that are to prepare her for whatever the future holds. In the middle of this training one of Rebecca's school friends arrives and has to be let in on the secret of the magic. This has far reaching consequences that we can only appreciate once battle commences. The characters continue to grow into their part of the story and they each enhance the tale in their own particular way. The melding of the magicals and non magicals is extremely well thought out and done adding a whole new dimension and depth to the tale.I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves fantasy no matter their age. This is a Goodreads First Win

The author has a wonderful style of writing which teams together a fantastical and magical land, with the rather normal and everyday human existence we know and recognize. The heroine is a strong character, and we see her overcome adversity from the first book, and further more we watch her develop. I particularly enjoy the author's message to young adults, including the benefits of talking and staying positive throughout hard times. I can really imagine reader's will relate to his writing because of this, and find some strength in the stories. A great idea and a great book.

Great, Possibly Better Than the First By Charity Martinez For full review please search for "5 Girls Book Reviews" in a search engine and/or FacebookREVIEW BY: Arianna, age 13 years, 2 monthsMAY CONTAIN SPOILER:This book was great, if not better than the first! My favorite character is Pip because he sounds extremely cute. He puts a grin on everyone's face and sounds lovable. He is a loyal and brave friend, he is also a little mischievous. My favorite part is when Naomi plans to introduce Cedric and a female. She sounds like she is going to try some match making. I also like when Rebecca becomes "Queen Rebecca" because she is perfect for the job. She is, simply put, meant to be the leader.

By Felicia Sale "I really like this book!", "I also love the pictures!" is how my K daughter responded after I read the book to her. She also enjoyed how it gives you so many life lessons. My sons 2nd grade teacher had him read the book to the entire class yesterday. Afterwards the teacher had each student write the author a mini review letter of the book. I hope he writes them back. Definitely a fun read with many life lessons within the book.

By Shantae Pelt I purchased this book as a gift for my 4th grade daughter as she is an avid reader and loves a good mystery. "The Missing President" was indeed the perfect purchase . I love that the characters are diverse and have unique personalities yet all share an eager desire to learn and discover the unknown. At bedtime, the goal is usually to read one chapter, yet after much fuss that didn't last long. We finished on the third night and have already read it twice this week. This is a great book to utilize for reading comprehension and fluency. My girls were asking lots of questions and were actively engaged and able to retell the story with great detail. The trio of main characters, although unique, compliment each other well, and I loved the display of friendship . Not to mention the history lesson was quite the surprise, for not just the kids, yet Mom as well. Overall this is a great book and it comes highly recommended.

It really allows you to learn about and understand some important parts of American history. Very relatable for younger kids and the colorful, engaging illustrations make for a very easy read. I would highly recommend for adults who want to brush up on their knowledge of some great historical facts or for kids who want an easy way to start to learn. Going to buy a bunch for birthdays and Christmas this year for the young ones in my family!

Going on our 'keeper' shelf - great book for kids with an awesome lesson By Brooke Bumgardner The Coal Thief by Alane Adams is a children's picture book set in 1920s Pennsylvania. It is winter, and Georgie's family is obviously struggling. Georgie is cold, they have no coal in the stove and his toes are poking through his boots. When his friend Harley stops by to take him on an adventure, Georgie goes along.Harley's 'adventure' turns out to be Georgie stealing coal from a passing train. When the train starts up again and Georgie is stuck in the coal car, he is scared of what will happen. His Papa comes along just in time and teaches Georgie a powerful lesson about caring for others ahead of yourself. The Coal Thief by Alane Adams is recommended for ages 4-8. I read this with my 4 year old daughter and she really enjoyed the story. It held her attention and she liked Georgie. When we neared the end of the story, she had a big smile on her face at how the story turned out. We live in an area with several coal mines and can relate to the setting and the characters in the story. This is one that is going on our 'keeper' shelf. Children everywhere can learn the important moral of the story. The Coal Thief by Alane Adams would be a wonderful Christmas gift for any child in the recommended age group or even a little younger. The illustrations are beautifully done by Lauren Gallegos.I received this book from the publisher for an honest review, but my review was not influenced by this.

The students loved it and chose it as one of their favorite books of the year. It is nice when I find books, like those by Alane Adams, that are relevant to my wide span of students. We discussed good and bad choices, influence of friends, and how talking to a parent can turn a bad decision around. The loved the ending, which inspired them to want help others less fortunate than them. A great story, with great illustrations - this one is a keeper!

I read it to my 5 year old granddaughter, who asks for it over and over again. It evokes many questions from her and has provided many invaluable teaching moments. I love our time together with this wonderful book and believe my granddaughter will read it to her own children someday. I have purchased several to give as gifts. Thank you Alane Adams!
