The idea of mermaids having a sophisticated tea party appeals to memories of myself as a six-year-old having tea with my dolls and instructing them to behave with good manners. This was, after all, my special tea party with my best china. Sally Huss's drawings are just adorable--just like happy, joyous little girls at their best. Also I am so happy to see a multicultural book for little mermaids!Along the say, Sally Huss provides a thoughtful lesson--pour tea in the cup before passing the cup and saucer. Is this not the lesson that you should always fill your vessel with joy before sharing it with those you love? This is a lovely story to be read and reread many times over.
