5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Terrific By Lisa's Book Reviews Julia Jones is in the 7th grade. She has a best friend named Millie and a crush on a cute guy named Blake Janson. She is active in dance class and pretty good at it too. Life for Julia is going great; it's not perfect, but she feels since Blake decided to join the dance team life is going to get even better. The only thing is a new girl comes to town. She's pretty. She's talented in dance. Perhaps, more so than Julia, but none of that matters much to Julia. Well, at least she doesn't let it show. As a matter of fact, Julia takes a liking to Sara as they have a lot of the same likes and interests. It's all fine and well a new girl showing up sporting all the wonderful clothes and jewelry Julia has her heart set on, and has the same interest in dance, even if Sara may be better, Julia can tolerate that, but when it comes to Blake, that's another story. Julia catches Sara showing interest in Blake and it really concerns her. She could easily lose him to her, as Sara knows just how to turn a guy's head, whether she cares for him or not. Will Sara take over the entire dance team that Julia has worked so hard forming? Will she steal Blake's heart right out from under her very own nose? You'll have to find this out and so much more by reading this book. And then you won't want to stop there, you'll want to continue in the series to follow Julia as her life unfolds. This book and others in series by Katrina Kahler are about real life situations occurring in the life of a middle grade girl; puppy love, friendships, bullying, dreams and wishes, which are perfect for like-aged readers.

I have read books about schools, mean girls, and modern day girls. Take "The Clique" for example. I have read several of those, and I love them. I have also read Dork Diaries. Those are amazing. I was browsing the Kindle store, bored out of my mind. (I can only get free things.) I had seen this book several times, but chosen not to get it, because the cover looked kind of creepy. I enjoyed the illustrations in the book though, even though I have a Paperwhite, and they are not colorful. Tonight I was browsing, and I saw the book. "Hmmmmm....."I said to myself. And then, "Why not?" I got it because it was free, and it seemed kid-friendly, even though I am twelve, and about to turn thirteen. I started the book at 4:57 A.M. I finshed it at 5:43 A.M.I read it in one sitting. It surprised me, because it actually seemed pretty interesting. I am definitely getting the second book, with my monthly freebie thing. I like these books, but would I pay for them? No. There is nothing wrong with them, except for one typo. They are well written. But they are not worth paying for.Go ahead, get the first book. In fact, I WANT you to get it. Pay for the whole set, even. But I wouldn't, even if I was able to. Maybe it is my age. Or my reading level. But I'm in no hurry to get the next one. They are not really that gripping. Besides, I will finish the next one in an hour and a half. I don't think it is worth it.Overall, this book was pretty cool. I think you will enjoy it.Note:· This book is completely appropriate for an eight year old. A seven year old might not understand the wording though.One word that would describe this story is:Entertaining.This is SilverCloud, singning OUT.
