Crafty Nichole does it again!Just for the benefit of those folks who read this review and aren't familiar with the Diary of an Angry Alex series: You had best start with Book 1 and follow the story along. Trust me, it's not hard to get hooked on it. The story focuses on Alex, one of the two default skins/characters in Minecraft. The other, Steve, is Alex's companion in the story. But they don't really get along. Well, just enough to deal with a villain like in this one!Each of the Diary of an Angry Alex is its own adventure. Like Alex plotting to kill Steve, Alex being mad at the villagers, and Alex and Steve meeting an evil Steve clone. Book 6 of the series finds Alex and Steve hiding in a village that they'd help build in a previous story. The village is under-attack by the "anti-Steve" (Herobrine) who's bent on destroying everything, it seems. All the stories are told from Alex's point of view. While both Alex and Steve want to get rid of the bad guy, Alex has mixed feelings about Steve and has often thought of getting rid of him as well. However, Alex is not a bad person at heart; it's just that Steve is really annoying from her point of view.I encourage you to read these stories! They are very funny, and Alex is a likable character despite her flaws and epic failures. Steve is an annoying twerp seen through her eyes, but we know he isn't a bad guy either. Aside from the characters, what will really capture Minecraft fans is how the author skillfully incorporates elements of the game into the story. It will really make you laugh. It's brilliant.I have no suggestions other than Alex - who started out as a novice miner and fighter in Book 1 - should grow more experienced and skillful in later stories. Now I wonder, will there be an "Alex vs. Steve" in the future? :)

Geer Before I begin, I will like to say that this is my FAVORITE Crafty Nicole series.In this exciting chapter of Diary of an Angry Alex, Alex and Steve are trapped in a village that is under siege by Herobrine. They mine their way out to try to escape. After many failed attemps they finally seek shelter in a Ocean Monument. What will happen to them in side the Monument? Will Herobrine find Alex and her companion?Sorry for any spoils, I hope I didn't give away too much.This is (in my opinion) the best series for Crafty Nicole. I like how she puts reviewers in her books a the end. I've seen W. shi "JENN", Power, and Astrocat, which are at the top of my list when it comes to reviewers. (P.S. I hope you three like the compliment) I've read most of your book Nicole and my favorites are: Diary of a minecraft griever, diary of a grumpy villager, and this one.So…Yeah, this is my first review for a Crafty Nichole book (partly because you write so fast and so much. By Eliza Green I received this book in exchange for my honest review.I was delighted when Eric contacted me and asked me to review Steamborn. The cover was great and I’ve been on a YA trip for a while. While Fantasy isn’t my go-to genre, I was willing to give the book a shot.People live in the Highlands and Lowlands, but both are under daily threat from a variety of very large spiders from the Deadlands. Jacob, the main protagonist in the story, is a tinker’s apprentice. But he’s also a petty thief who steals to help out his sick father. But when a swarm of spiders breaches the Highlands wall, the attack puts everyone on alert.I liked the overall premise of the book and the spiders were well described and terrifying in parts. Then there were the multitude of inventions involving steam. This is definitely Steampunk!What I struggled a little with was the lack of conflict between the characters. While they were developed, the nice people were always nice. Never a cross word said. Jacob is fifteen, but he goes to cotillions with his best friend Alice and likes really sweet candy. The candy seems more like something a younger boy might like. And fifteen year olds rarely go to dances with their female friends and not have any feelings beyond platonic ones. I would have liked Jason and Alice to have argued a little more like the hormonal fifteen year olds I imagined them to be.Overall, four stars.

By montzalee wittmann Steamborn is a futurist steampunk type story with giant bugs, action, a little romance, and lots of inventive machines. The story doesn't end in a conclusive ending but leaves it open for the next story, so if you are one that like closure...The plot is good, the characters are great, lots of action and emotion. It seemed to be a teen book but some adults might like it too. I like my stories to end conclusively and then tease me about a next book so this was a bummer for me, I guess you can't please everyone. I received this book for a honest review from NetGalley.

Asher, Steamborn was an exciting and fast-paced read, and I honestly can’t remember the last time I had that much fun reading a book. With the release of Jack Campbell and Jim Butchers new steampunk books this year I didn’t think anything else would really meet the bar they set, but Steamborn is as good as, if not better than either of them. I can’t count the number of times I found myself on my feet pacing around my room — which is something I do when I am really amped up by the book I am reading.Most books I’ve read with war torn or post apocalyptic worlds are much too dark and depressing for my liking, but I found Steamborn to be a much more hopeful story. I was also really happy to discover that the technical aspects of the book weren’t too difficult to follow as well. I’m not a very mechanically minded person so I can struggle at times when a story gets too much into the details of the machines, but this book kept things simple without dumbing it down at all.My favorite part of the book however were the characters, the relationships Jacob had with his mentor Charles, and his friend Alice really made the story for me. I had to restrain myself from rushing through the story and missing things to find out just how everything turned out between them all.I already can’t wait for the next book in the series, and I can’t describe the excitement I felt when I found out the next two books both come out in 2016. By Rae O I read this short chapter book to my six and four year olds- they both really enjoyed it. It is a cute story and easy to follow along because it is written in very simple language. I was disappointed though that the historical content was focused solely on the george Washington cherry tree story and one mention of a man's colonial dress. I was hoping for more description of the colonial lifestyle- I think that could have made the time period really come alive. My kids certainly enjoyed the book though and kept asking me to read "just one more chapter."

Fun bed time story By Brandon My eight your old daughter and I have been reading about three to four chapters a night of this book for a bedtime story. It is a fun adventure that introduces children to the often confusing concept of time-travel and cause/effect that is the at the heart of some great SciFi literature. The story also sheds a new light on what the choices were for historical figures and the alternative consequences that may have been if those choices were different. I love anything that can make history, science, and analytical thinking fun for a child.

It fascinates her because the girls in the story are around her age, so it puts it in perspective for her. She keeps me buying the next books, she wants to hear what happens next. Sometimes I think it goes into a little to much detail for children though, but she doesn't seem to mind.

Many people try to avoid thinking with drowning their thoughts with television, video games, cell hones etc. You will learn by reading and by controlling yoru thoughts. This book will be useful if you want to learn to think clearly, solve problems and express your ideas more persuasive. Their are 14 Chapters and at the end of each chapter there are helpful exercises to help sharpen your skills. Here is a short list:Start a "thoughts journal" to make you more aware of your own mind and how it works.Identify useless thoughts in order to think better thoughts.Play a game with google, type in a word and see if you can find just one hit. That is a good one!Only think happy thoughts.Write down three things that you know about because you were there, write what happened with what you saw with your eyes.Read every night before you go to bed for at least 15 minutes.Think of a question and focus on one topic only for a day.I learned a lot, but it also reminded me of the law of attraction books and the power of now book. By Alyssa Normally I can't read a book this fast! i received Love the Fox from Magnetic Press and it's even more amazing than the preview shots I'd first received. The story is unlike any other, in that there are no words to read. This graphic tale is filled with beautiful illustrations, showing life in the forest. The circle of life, so to speak. Things are living, killing and flourishing, but when a volcano erupts, a set of events go into motion. You see everything from land, air, and beneath freezing waters. In every photo, you understand the fear, the frustration and the need to survive. And then there's one fox. She's an eyewitness to the events and watches how easily agitated some of the dominant predators can be when faced with the unknown danger. What you don't see is why this fox is making her way through thunderous, treacherous territory. Not until the end anyway. This is a great book- one my son would appreciate but I refuse to give him. LOL It's all mine and I won't give it up. So check out this deafening yet silent tale. You will love itas much as I did. And I'm on to another book!http://tinyurl.com/ptryao5

By Wayne A McCoy 'The Fox (Love #2)' continues this beautiful wordless graphic novel series. I'm still confused why they've called it Love.A one-eyed fox living on a frozen volcanic island is on the run from all kinds of predators and larger animals living around it. To complicate matters, the volcano decides to erupt and create chaos with the animals. Suddenly animals are thrown together, sometimes violently. Not far offshore a pod of orca whales waits to see what food might be available. Meanwhile fox just wants to survive.I liked the first volume about a tiger, but I liked the second volume. Maybe because more is happening, or maybe because the fox was a more vulnerable character. I don't even mind that the story gets so preposterous that it couldn't possibly happen in real life. It's a well told story with no words and beautiful pictures by Federico Bertolucci.I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors, Magnetic Press, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I always buy minecraft books for my son and none for my little princess. Thanks to the author for creating a twist to a rather masculine game. A feminine version of minecraft and I just love it the same way as the classic minecraft stories.Meet Trish and Tracy two young girls who have opposing personalities, likes and dislikes but they do get along well, weird but they really do. This is so cute, you'll laugh and cry at the same time, these girls are incredible, very well developed characters that have you hanging till the end of the story.Included in this book are two more stories you'll never want to miss. This is highly entertaining and had a great time reading this, as this is the first minecraft story created for girls.

Fun read, easy entertainment By Kindle Customer This a great little bundle of stories about women told in first person in their diaries.The guest story is about two friends, who couldn't be more distant, but singer's still manages to be best friends.The next is about a young woman, who just about had enough, when she finds out that she's a princess and she has a woke new experience waiting for her.The last story is about a young couple and their ups and downs.

Haley is so mad she decideds to spred mean rumers against the BSC. She tells them that the BSC can't be trusted and then to make it worse, she tells MORE lies to back it up! Claudia and the BSC have to find a way to tell the kids the truth. But who will they believe? The BSC or Haley? This book is good. I recommend you read it. You learn how telling lies just piles up and you get stuck in your lies. Haley illustrates it reall well. Claudia does solve the problem but how? You'll have to read it!!!!
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. liar liar pants on fire By M Many kids love the Baby-Sitters Club and its members, but of course there are a few who don't, and Claudia has to deal with one particularly nasty kid who keeps spreading lies about the BSC as well as telling lies to get out of doing her homework, throwing the reputation of the club in question. There were times when I just wanted to smack that snot-nosed girl around, and was praying Claudia would (even though I knew it wouldn't happen)

She blames Claudia for everything. She tells the other kids that the BSC is a netwrk of spies who like to tattle on them. The BSC needs to find a way to get the kids to believe them. Second, Kristy is coaching a girls basketball team. Haley is on the team and she has to learn to sho good sportswomen ship. Third, Claudia is a little unsure about her relonship with Josh. She like him, sure but she doesn't feel any romantic feelings toward him. She even lies to him. They decided their much better off as friends then boyfriend and girlfriend. This was great book. It teaches you a really valuable lesson. This wasn't the best, but it was still a great book.

He was taken to the vet to be euthanized, but the kind doctor took him home instead. He built him a little contraption with wheels to hold his hind end and enable him to move on his own. Dr. Len recorded Chris when he first used his contraption and posted it on Youtube. He became famous and traveled around, was on TV shows and was taken to functions. His role was to motivate people to always do their best despite their problems. He also was an inspiration to everyone especially others in wheelchairs etc. Chris was welcomed and celebrated in Dr. Len's home. The end of the book shows actual photographs of Chris during his first 2 years. The illustrations are great and add a lot to the story. I recommend that all school and public libraries get a copy of this book.I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

After three hundred years, the main story happens in 2115. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Captive By Sarah (Feeling Fictional) Captive is a new UKYA thriller from debut author A.J. Grainger and it's a great addition to the genre. This is the story of sixteen year old Robyn, daughter of the British Prime Minister, who has been taken hostage by environmental activists so they can use her as leverage to get one of their group members released from prison. Robyn has already witnessed an attack on her father but that was nothing compared to the terror she now faces as she is held prisoner by a group of masked assailants. Unfortunately for Robyn, the kidnapping is only the beginning and as she gets to know one of her captors she realises she's at the centre of a conspiracy that may turn her whole world upside down forever.This is a very fast paced story that throws readers into the action quite quickly as we see Robyn's capture in a terrifying second attack on her family. Robyn was very easy to relate to and I thought her reactions to the situation she found herself in were very realistic, she is frightened and uncertain but she is also incredibly brave as she tries several times to escape. Robyn is forced to examine the relationship she has with her father and it is incredibly upsetting for her when she realises that he won't do the one thing that will guarantee her release. She also has to ask herself some difficult questions about her family and whether her Dad has been lying to her.Captive is the kind of book that makes you think, it touches on environmental issues, love and loyalty to your family and about being brave enough to face the truth even when that means uncovering something distressing. I think my only complaint was that the ending felt a little rushed and as much as I ended up liking both Robyn and Talon their relationship was a bit too Stockholm Syndrome for me to be able to take it seriously. What I did like was that all of the characters took responsibility for their actions and they suffered the consequences for them. I think I would just have preferred a longer epilogue to give us a bit more detail about how things turned out, I guess the advantage of a fairly open ending is that readers can all choose how they would like to see the character's futures. Either way, Captive is a great debut and A.J. Grainger is definitely an author to watch out for!

Sometimes I like kidnapping books, other times I do not.I really liked it. I thought it was a good one. I enjoyed the plot, but I also liked the characters more than anything.We are introduced to Robyn who is just a normal teenager. She has most teenage problems, except for one exception. Her dad is the prime minister of the UK. This means her life is always in danger. Something could happen to her or her family. Terrorists, threats, a lot of things really.When Robyn gets kidnapped it is quite the whirlwind for her. Two of the kidnappers were pretty mean, and jerks. I didn’t like those two at all. Both of them rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. But, there was another one. His name was Talon. I really liked him a lot. I wanted him and Robyn to become friends. I found myself rooting for him many times during the book.I felt at times this book was very fast paced however it did feel like her kidnapping lasted forever. At times, I just wanted her to be found or to escape.I really liked learning about her relationship with her dad and her little sister. I liked her family a lot even if things weren’t perfect.I think I liked the parts between Talon and Robyn the most out of the whole novel. But I never really felt completely right about it either. It was a hard one to grasp.Overall: I did really enjoy this one all in all. I liked Talon and I understood why he was the way he was. It was just hard wanting Robyn to like Talon because he was in on the kidnapping but I always liked the scenes with them. It is simple yet rich with education, color and fun. Katie loves reading this and has learned quite a bit about the different animals. She has repeatedly asked to read this...it's a bed-time favorite. The celebration of individual traits and abilities and the recognition that one doesn't have to be capable of everything fosters great conversation about appreciation of oneself and of others. This is sure to be a classic cherished by young readers and their parents.

Giles "Cows Can't Jump" is simply written yet the message it provides to young children and adults alike is brilliantly captured! The vibrant illustrations add a uniqueness to the story. I was so impressed with the simple, yet powerful message portrayed for the readers that I am going to purchase a copy for my two-year-old son and I to read together. I'm looking forward to reading more children's books from the author soon.

Not every animal is designed for certain activities. Can you imaging a flying elephant or a tunneling giraffe? The thought that all animals could excel at everything is absurd. But many educators look at children and hold them to standards they could never meet.Just as the animals are designed for certain purposes, children are also gifted at some things more than others. Cows Can't Jump is a fun read with great illustrations that kids will want to read over and over again, but it also provides a wonderful message. Reading about the specific talents animals have, and how they also have limitations, frees kids to stop worrying so much about the things they're not good at, and gives them permission to excel with their natural abilities.I found myself reading this book aloud just for the sheer joy, and I'm sure kids will love it too.
