About the Author Len Lucero, D.V.M., is a veterinarian who lives in Sumterville, Florida, with his wife, Shawna, and their two children, Ashley and Gabriel. Growing up on a small ranch in New Mexico, Len always loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. His dream came true, and he now owns and operates Sumter Mobile Veterinary Services and takes care of animals both large and small. One of those small animals came into his life to stay—and that is his little friend and companion Chris P. Bacon.Kristina Tracy is the proud mom of two kids, Ava and Dane. Besides writing, her favorite things to do include riding her horse, remodeling, gardening, and reading. She spends her time in San Diego and Summerland, California. When he was brought to Veterinarian Len Lucero's office with two non-working hind legs, Dr. Len immediately adopted and brought Chris home. After fashioning a cart made from discarded toys, Dr. Len gave Chris mobility and off he ran. As a You Tube sensation, the story of Chris P. Bacon has reached far and wide. Chris P. is now two years old and, during his party, his many friends and family recall how he has helped enrich their lives.As a book, Woo-Hoo...Chris P. is 2! has the power to teach about diversity. He was taken to the vet to be euthanized, but the kind doctor took him home instead. He built him a little contraption with wheels to hold his hind end and enable him to move on his own. Dr. Len recorded Chris when he first used his contraption and posted it on Youtube. He became famous and traveled around, was on TV shows and was taken to functions. His role was to motivate people to always do their best despite their problems. He also was an inspiration to everyone especially others in wheelchairs etc. Chris was welcomed and celebrated in Dr. Len's home. The end of the book shows actual photographs of Chris during his first 2 years. The illustrations are great and add a lot to the story. I recommend that all school and public libraries get a copy of this book.I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
