Where could Monkey Moon be? A parent and child share a tender moment as they search the park at night for a favorite toy.Every night at half past seven, Michael and his stuffed monkey go hippity-hop, hippity-hop, up the stairs to bed. But one night when Michael calls out for Monkey Moon, he’s not in any of his favorite places. Dad thinks he must still be at the park, so he and Michael bundle up and head outside, into the dark street, to retrace their steps. As an owl gives a soft hoot, hoot, the two pass silent swings and sleeping ducks, brushing away leaves and looking behind trees, searching the sandbox and peering into the playhouse. Will Michael ever find his beloved toy? With a lyrical narrative and lovely soft art,Finding Monkey Moon transforms a child’s familiar experience into a nighttime adventure.

By Colette P As a new mom and a school teacher, I just love receiving this book as a gift for my daughter and classroom. The illustrations bring the story to life and the author used some strong craft moves that not only make this a sweet story for bedtime but also for the classroom!

I have already purchased multiple copies of this book and given them away as gifts to all the little ones in my life. Makes a wonderful addition to any child's library!

I wanted to like this, but it was a bit disappointing By GWK The illustrations are of a very high quality, but overall I found this story to be quite dark, sad and repetitive. The language provide insight and observations that appealed more to an older mind than a child's. From a child's perspective, it was a bit boring. While the illustrator's hand was confident and obviously talented, the visual tone had a certain darkness that added a scary element. Originally from Chicago, I know I may not be entirely objective about this, but really...where in the U.S. can you take a small kid to a dark park, late at night to go looking for a toy? Children's stories often use repetition in language and/or story to make an impact on kids. But when I say this was repetitive, I mean that it was done so in a way that was boring and provided no new insight into the father/son journey. "Where is Monkey Moon? Monkey Moon is lost, oh my!" Nothing new, five pages later.
